Architectural interior ceramics by artists of the Leningrad school

The period of the early twentieth century in Russia is becoming special in the history of the development of interior and architectural ceramics, many iconic artists, for example, Mikhail Vrubel, Alexander Golovin, Konstantin Korovin and others collaborated with ceramic workshops and artels, already at this time we can talk about the author's ceramics in interior design and buildings. The interior ceramics of the experimental workshop of the Decorative and applied arts Art Foundation at the Leningrad department of the Union of Artists occupied a special place among the artistic techniques of decoration of public interiors in the 1970s and 1990s. The purpose of the article is to examine a number of public interiors and facades of buildings decorated with artistic ceramics made in the workshops of the of the Decorative and applied arts Art Foundation at the Leningrad department of the Union of Artists. The object of the study was the works of architectural ceramics created by representatives of different generations of ceramists, graduates of the V. I. Mukhina LVHPU, prominent representatives of the school: Alexander Zadorin, Mikhail Kopylkov, Vladimir Tsivin, Vyacheslav Shvetsov, Olga Nekrasova-Karateeva, Irina Kalitaeva. Using their example, an analysis of the artistic language, range of images and themes is carried out. In the interior and architectural ceramics of Leningrad in the 1970s and 1990s, there is a clear connection between the technology of ceramic production and the artistic image of the work.
