The article presents an analytical review of the key publications of Irina Glinskaya, Candidate of Art History, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences (1909–1997), who taught at the Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute from 1953 to 1974. Today, the works of I. P. Glinskaya are not included in the art criticism scientific discourse. They are of independent interest, demonstrate the logic of the development of the science of art in the Soviet period, and allow us to understand the dependence of academic biography on the circumstances of personal fate. The article reviews those publications related to the problems of historical art studies, which Glinskaya dealt with during her postgraduate studies at Leningrad State University (1946–1949) and after defending her dissertation (1950–1952). Subsequently (1960–1970s), the art history issues in the works of Irina Glinskaya were closely intertwined with the issues of It also dealt with the study of the spatial structure of images in their historical dynamics. The analysis of the publications allows us to identify four main groups of scientific interests of I. P. Glinskaya in the field of art studies, which replaced each other depending on academic and/or personal circumstances. The first period (1930s) was associated with attention to the problem of decorating the city's space by means of visual and spatial arts. The second (the second half of the 1940s) was with the study of Dutch realistic painting. The third (early 1950s) dealt with the problems of forming the foundations for the study of universal art history. The fourth (1960s — early 1970s) was devoted to the study of the development of spatial structures in the history of fine art.
