The article “Andrey Leonidovich Vassoevich: The facets of giftedness and work” is intended for publication in the Journal of Integrative Cultural Studies, which will cover the results of respective Russian research activity and distribute them among scientists, primarily among young researchers.
The review is devoted to a distinguished St. Petersburg scientist who professionally uses the methods of several sciences (Oriental studies, history, philosophy, psychology, political science, linguistics, cultural studies), thus gaining properly integrated and, consequently, more specific knowledge about a particular cultural phenomenon.
The article examines many aspects of Andrey Vassoevich’s scientific activity at different stages of his creative biography, as well as some unique features of his main works on Oriental studies (monograph “The Spiritual World of the peoples of the Classical East”), historical psychology (a series of articles), political psychology (monograph “Revolution and Thermidor”) and other works.
In addition, attention is paid to the long-term activities of Vassoevich A. L. as Chairman of the St. Petersburg Historical Club and host of its meetings on Radio Petersburg, as well as Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, established on his initiative at the Herzen University.
