Modern art glass enterprises: An experience of understanding the heritage of The Leningrad Art Glass Factory of the 1950s–1960s

The study is devoted to the analysis of the artistic heritage of the Leningrad Art Glass Factory of the 1950s–1960s and its connection with modern art enterprises of St. Petersburg. The Leningrad Art Glass Factory, being one of the main centers of artistic glassmaking in the USSR, had a significant influence on the formation of Soviet industrial art. Thanks to the efforts of such artists as B. A. Smirnov, A. A. Astvatsaturyan, L. D. Smirnova, Yu. A. Muntyan, E. V. Yanovskaya, L. D. Smirnova, A. I. Maeva, H. M. Pyl'd, L. O. Jurgen and others, a unique school of art glass was formed in Leningrad, many examples created by these masters took an important place in the history of domestic decorative art, had a significant influence on the work of masters of the following generations. The relevance of the article is due not only to the growing attention to the activities of Soviet art enterprises from researchers seeking to understand this artistic phenomenon, but also to the growing interest in this artistic heritage among modern masters of art glass. The purpose of the article is to identify connections in the content basis, expressive techniques, and determine stylistic parallels between modern objects of art glass and the heritage of art glass in the USSR in the 1950s–1960s. The study is based on a comparative analysis of art glass objects created by Leningrad masters in the 1950s–1960s and works of art glass created at modern art enterprises in St. Petersburg, in particular, the products of the St. Petersburg art glass workshop "Rusvuzdizain".
