Achilles or Cassandra?

Most scientific disciplines begin with a description and classification of their objects, then move on to theory, and finally proceed to forecasting. This applies to many of the humanities, including cultural studies. The theory of self-organization or synergism is increasingly becoming the bridge connecting today’s natural-science and humanities cultures. It was not labor that created humans, but our amazing ability to organize ourselves, which allowed our species, unlike any other, to create a technological civilization.
Morality, rituals, religions, language, artistic creativity, writing, printing, newspapers, radio, television, telephone, the Internet, and social networks are primarily tools that facilitate social self-organization. All of them are objects researched by culturology, which makes it natural to analyze them using interdisciplinary approaches. Cassandra foretold the future, but no one believed her predictions. Achilles, the hero of the Trojan War, sought to change that future. When considering the founders of cultural studies, we usually follow Cassandra’s strategy, and we obtain results similar to her prophecies.
It appears necessary to change the point of view and bring to the fore those who foresaw the future of the world and culture and were able to translate their understanding into reality — that is, those who followed the path of Achilles. With this approach, three figures emerge — Leonardo da Vinci, Goethe, and Bogdanov. This is the perspective developed in the article.
